Music Becomes a Family Affair
by Bethany Stone

"Jenny Charness [age 9] wants to be a violin teacher when she grows up. . . . She is joined in the quintet by her brother Daniel, 11, who plays the cello, her sister Sarah, 14, who plays the violin, her mother Deborah, who plays the flute, and her father Michael, a doctor, who plays the piano."

"Deborah said her goal is for her children to have the ability to play their instruments professionally should they desire to do so some day."

"The quintet plays a range of music from classical to contemporary, and even throws in some tangos, though their repertoire mostly depends on requests. They don't always perform all together and it's a nice change of pace when Michael, Daniel and Sarah separate to perform a Bach trio, Deborah said."
